"Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; neither do they toil nor spin yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these." (Matthew 6:28-29)
I know what you’re thinking. I have not moved on to Easter. I’ve just noticed we do a bit of toiling and spinning during Advent. Every year we talk about a more spiritual, less hectic Christmas. I don’t know about other families but, even as empty nesters, we are busier than we’d like to be during one of the holiest times of the year.
What shall we do?
I know that establishing Advent rituals would be helpful for our family. There are certainly families in need that we can attend to. Reaching out to friends and neighbors, especially those who are missing family, would be welcome during the holidays.
Whatever you do, do it with love and thanksgiving.
